Q/by shariputra/Does a subsystem, intended to be integrated into a system, come with its own “power tools” ? It would have to,?
wouldn’t it ? Wouldn’t the subsystem have to have been “born integrated” ?
So is it an oxymoron to say that Collins computerization ran into integration problems ?
•	A/by John_Dem…
will say this about defense workers around the world (I’ve worked with US, British, Canadian, Belgian, German, and Israeli), they tend to be pretty patriotic and pretty self-conscious. I don’t think that it is likely that someone would doctor a subsystem.
Also, as I recall, the faults associated with the Collins class subs were not a specific catastrophic failure, but a series of cost and schedule overruns, problems with quality due to inexperience building submarines, and the rate of change of computerized equipment making the original equipment obsolete.
As the McIntosh-Prescott report found, “the underlying cause is a myriad of design deficiencies and consequential operational limitations relating to the platform and combat system.”
So no, I don’t think these boats were messed up on purpose. No, I don’t think a rogue employee or manager trashed the system. I think it was due to lack of experience: experience managing, experience manufacturing, and experience developing long lasting military projects.
•	A/by Waikiki Kahuna
A sensor system S, born integrated with some sort of effector system E2.
An effector system E , born integrated with some sort of sensor system S2.
And you want systems S and E integrated.
So you can aim for interoperability of (S and E2) and (E and S2).
•	A/by mikejobo…
My Dear Shariputra,
I like the way you put it: ‘oxymoron’.
I agree that it is an oxymoron to say that Collins computerization ran into integration problems, since they did not use subsystems power tools properly.
They did not or else, it would have facilitated integration, or be ‘born integrated.’
I like your questions, Shariputra.
•	A/by Froggie
It would have to otherwise it wouldn’t be able to integrate in the first place

if this paragraph has a compound sentence and keeps its past tense form throughout?
It’s a bird! It’s a god! It’s Daedaulus! This just in!- I am at the scene of the great escape from Crete, where the great Athenian architect who built the labyrinth, Daedaulus, has just landed after traveling through the air. He has flown through the air from the island of Crete after being caught and punished for helping Theseus escape from the labyrinth. Daedaulus mentioned that the escape was not too hard, “Minos may control the land and sea, but he does not control the air,” Daedaulus had pointed out. Icarus, Daedalus’s young son, and he were flying over the sea when the unfortunate Icarus flew too high. “We had made wings for each of us out of blown away feathers and bits of strong wax,” said Daedaulus. He strapped one pair of wings to his son’s arms. He attached the other pair to himself. Then they both leapt into the air and flew. People saw the two men flying like great birds in the sky and thought they saw gods. Icarus was so thrilled at being able to fly that he flew higher and higher toward the sun. Daedalus begged his son to keep away from the sun, but Icarus continued to fly higher. Because Icarus flew too near the sun, the wax holding the wings together melted. The wings fell apart and Icarus plunged into the sea and drowned. This is such a mournful time for Daedaulus that it is hard for him to give me more information. I will keep you posted with more details as soon as possible!

Ok this is an additional part of the question I asked yesterday.
So I messed up my CPU. I put thermal compound on the top and I forgot to put the lever back down on the socket. The heatsink is attached to my CPU cover (plastic protection thing) and I put that down on top of the CPU but I saw that it didn’t fit. I shoved it around a little bit, and then I noticed that the CPU was not in the socket and it was stuck to the heatsink by the thermal compound. I bent 30-45% of the pins but none of them broke. So then…
I was all mad at my stupidity and went to my couch without thinking (which is one of those hard fabric ones) which was also on a carpet. I leaned back and started to unbend the pins (still angry). Then I noticed that i forgot to close the case (cuz I have a cat who is really staticy). and I went back and closed it. So then I went to my computer desk chair (leather but on carpet) and started doing unbending again. I managed to make it fit and I think it would have been Ok if I didn’t walk through all that carpet but then I noticed that there could have been static electricity. I didn’t feel any shocks and I know that no1 will be able to tell me specifically cause they weren’t there but if could you atleast think if there would be static. I was wearing an AE polo (not too staticy) with jeans and socks if that matters.
